Good Faith Estimates & Advanced Explanations of Benefits

Nobody likes an unexpected bill. We do our best to provide estimates of out-of-pocket costs for our services for all clients.

For self-pay clients (those who are uninsured or out-of-network), we provide a Good Faith Estimate as required by the "No Surprises Act."

For clients with BCBS PPO or United Healthcare PPO insurance plans, our staff verifies your benefits using the insurance plan's online portal. You will receive an Advanced Explanation of Benefits (AEOB) with the information that we obtain from the online portal, including insurance coverage and limitations, preauthorization information, and estimated out-of-pocket costs (i.e., co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance.)

Insurance coverage varies, and the online portals are not always 100% accurate. We encourage clients and families to contact their insurance company's member services department to verify coverage. You can use the information on your AEOB to confirm the information from the online portal.

While we try to be as accurate as possible when verifying benefits, your fees may change depending on your eligibility and benefits during the date of your sessions. We won't know your exact fee until insurance processes your first claim and sends your explanation of benefits.

Additionally, your out-of-pocket expenses will change annually when your deductible is reset. For most plans, this is on January 1st.

Out-of-Network Billing

If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may be able to be reimbursed for all or some of the cost of speech-language therapy sessions by submitting your paid invoices for "out-of-network reimbursement."

Here are some questions that you an ask your insurance provider to determine if you can pursue out-of-network reimbursement:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?

  • Does my plan cover individual speech-language therapy (CPT code: 92507?)

  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, how much is it, and how much has already been met?

  • What is the out-of-network coverage for speech-language therapy per session?

  • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
